Welcome to Agnes Street, a venerable residential block west of Burbank that has had a long history of
being used in movies, television and advertisements. It is most famous for the house numbered 4227,
which was the original house used in many of the Blondie movies. (It was eventually replicated
at Columbia Ranch, now owned by Warner Bros.) The house across the street, 4222, is probably the most widely-used
of the homes, appearing in many TV movies and ads. Check out my collection of photos and video images and
help preserve the heritage of this particular block of Agnes Street.

The original Blondie house was (and still is)
a real home in a residential area west of Burbank. After several films in the series, the studio built a replica
of the house, which became the primary exterior shooting location for the latter Blondie movies. There are some
key differences between 4227 Agnes Street and the copy built at the Ranch:
4227 has a lower roofline on the side wings.
4227 has larger and darker roofing shakes.
4227 originally had dark-painted sides of the main gable.
4227's front door handle is lower.
4227 has a different porch light fixture & placement.
4227's outer dormers are closer to the edge of the roof.
Eventually the house at the Ranch was modified with larger box windows and steep roofs on the side wings,
and it remains like that to this day. It is much more commonly known for its heavy use in TV series such
as I Dream of Jeannie, Father Knows Best and Dennis the Menace. The house at 4227 Agnes Street
looks the same today, although its grounds have changed over the years. |
